ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is April, and I'm a queer Filipina photographer based in Winnipeg, Canada. I primarily work on projects related to travel and tourism, inspiring stories, as well as cultural and social events. My approach to taking photos and creating stop-motion films is documentary, capturing scenes as they unfold, and if the situation calls for it, I add a bit of a creative perspective. My compositions blend lines and symmetry with candid, vibrant human moments.
In 2018, I undertook my first assignment for Canadian Geographic, and since then, I have collaborated with various organizations, including Destination Canada, Via Rail, WayAway.io, Travel Manitoba, Winnipeg Arts Council, the International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD), and more. My photos have been published in magazines, annual reports, and newspapers.
I would love to work on more inspiring projects. I am particularly interested in taking photos related to heritage architecture, slow travel, climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable and specialty foods.
When not behind the camera, I find joy in exploring cities through urban walks or pedaling around on my Brompton bike. I also enjoy discovering hole-in-the-wall restaurants, thrift shopping, going on road trips, and, of course, spending time with my wife, Joan, and our cats.
